Six Ictus Fellows have decided to take up the challenge of giving a concert without musical instruments. They are not afraid to get their hands dirty and work flat out to achieve their goal.

Four fascinating scores have been uncovered for the occasion. With Homework II, In the garage we delve into Francois Sahran’s toolbox in the hope of carrying out an impossible repair. With Francesco Filidei’s I Funerali dell' Anarchico Serantini we find ourselves in a law court where the public can also have its say. Then we sit around the table at home where all our problems are discussed and swept aside in the course of Thierry de Mey’s Musique de tables. We end up in the timber yard with Steve Reichs’ Music for Pieces of Wood where everything finally makes sense in this “happily ever after” tale.

Een concert zonder muziekinstrumenten, dat is de uitdaging waar 6 Ictus fellows enthousiast hun handen aan vuil maken, hun tanden in zetten, tussendoor van tafel vegen om er tot slot een stevige lap op te geven.

Vier fascinerende partituren worden daarvoor uit de kast gehaald. Met Homework II, in the garage van Francois Sahran duiken we de garage in voor een onmogelijke herstelling. Met I Funerali dell'anarchico Serantini van Francesco Filidei belanden we naadloos in een rechtszaal waar ook het publiek een woordje kan ‘meepraten’. Vervolgens gaan we thuis aan tafel zitten voor Musique de tables van Thierry de Mey worden de problemen besproken en van tafel geveegd. Tot slot staan we in de houthandel waar alles toch blijkt te kloppen met werk van Steve Reich

Un concert sans instrument de musique. Un concert où l’on fait musique de tout. Où même le public met la main à la pâte. Un concert tout public : familles et enfants à partir de 7 ans – quoique les garagistes, les repris de justice, les ébénistes et les négociants en bois soient particulièrement bienvenus,

Six jeunes Ictus Fellows, issus de notre cycle académique et aujourd’hui brillants débutants sur la scène musicale, ont sorti quatre passionnantes partitions de leurs archives. Avec Homework II, In the garage de François Sarhan, nous fouillons tous ensemble dans une caisse à outils en vue d’une impossible réparation. Avec I Funerali dell’Anarchico de Francesco Filidei, ensuite, nous atterrissons dans un tribunal qui juge une affaire difficile, et où le public aura le dernier mot. Tous les problèmes se traitent autour d’une table au rythme de Musique des Tables de Thierry De Mey. Et en conclusion, Music for Pieces of Wood de Steve Reich nous mène chez un négociant en bois où cette étrange histoire trouve son heureux dénouement.
