Een collage van banale anekdotes, een televisiepredikant en een talkshow bouwt een beeld op van hedendaagse vervreemding. De hel die Sarhan beschrijft, moraliseert niet en roept geen hevige emoties op, maar blijft verborgen onder een ironische afstandelijkheid. Al kan dat gevoel ook veel te maken hebben met de muziek.

Generally, as with earlier, the musicians' skill and dedication to the difficult charge asked of them was remarkable; Partch's funny, strange and compassionate empowerment of hobo voices came ably and vividly through the transcriptions and the performances. This was a fascinating concert, singular even by Ictus' high standards.
