(short biography)

Tom De Cock (°1982) received his masters degree in percussion at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels (2005), as well as a masters degree in contemporary music at the HFMDK Frankfurt am Main (2007), Germany. In 2009, he graduated “summa cum laude” at the HFM Detmold in the Konzertexamen degree and obtained his "Doctor of Arts" degree at the VUB and Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel in 2015. He received the Horlait Dapsens prize in 2007.
Next to his position as percussion soloist at the Brussels Philharmonic orchestra, Tom has been working as a freelance musician in Europe, he played with Ensemble Modern, MusikFabrik, Radio Kamer Philharmonie, among others and is a fixed member of Ictus, Nadar Ensemble, Triatu, and Ensemble XII.
He performed at festivals such as Agora Paris, Internationale Ferienkurse Darmstadt, Donaueschinger Musiktage, Klangspuren Schwaz, Bang on a Can NY, Ars Musica, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, etc. Tom has collaborated with Pierre Boulez, Peter Eötvös, Philippe Hurel, Bruno Mantovani, Philippe Manoury, Georges Aperghis and many other prominent figures of international contemporary music.
At the moment, Tom is working as the assistant percussion teacher at Conservatoire Royal de Liège.

In 2009 werkte hij zijn Konzertexamen aan de HFM Detmold “summa cum laude” af. In 2015 werkte hij zijn doctoraat af aan de VUB en het Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel. In 2007 kreeg hij de prijs Horlait Dapsens.
Naast zijn positie als solist slagwerk bij Brussels Philharmonic werkte Tom als freelance muzikant in Europa. Hij verleende al zijn medewerking aan onder andere Ensemble Modern, MusikFabrik, Radio Kamer Philharmonie, en is vast lid bij Ictus, Nadar Ensemble en Triatu.

Percussion

Tom De Cock, né en 1982, est titulaire d’un master de percussion du Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel (2005), ainsi qu’un master en musique contemporaine de la Haute Ecole de Musique et des Arts de la Scène de Francfort (HFMDK, 2007, Allemagne). A la Haute Ecole de Musique de Detmold, en 2009, il a été reçu à l’examen final avec la plus grande distinction. Il obtient son Doctorat dans les Arts au VUB et le Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles (KCB, 2015). Il est lauréat du prix Horlait Dapsens (2007).
Outre son engagement comme percussionniste solo au Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra, Tom De Cock a travaillé en freelance avec des ensembles européens tels que l’Ensemble Modern, MusikFabrik, Radio Kamer Philharmonie, entre autres. Il est membre fixe des ensembles Ictus, Nadar et Triatu.

Il a joué dans de grands festivals tels qu’Agora à Paris, les Internationale Ferienkurse à Darmstadt, les Donaueschinger Musiktage, Klangspuren Schwaz, Bang on a Can NY, Ars Musica, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, etc.
