Georges-Elie Octors studied at the Royal Academy of Brussels. He performed as a soloist in the National Orchestra of Belgium, was a member of ensemble Musique Nouvelle (Liège) from 1970 on, and was the conductor of this ensemble from 1976 until 1991. He conducted a lot of symphonic orchestras, Chamber orchestra and contemporary music ensembles in Belgium and abroad. Thanks to his experience in conducting modern opera's, he was invited at the Academia Scala de Milano.
He created a music course adapted to the young dansers of the Performing arts and Training Studios (PARTS/ROSAS) and teached at the Brussels Royal Conservatory.
Until 2012, he was in charge for the "Formation aux Langages Contemporains" at the Liège Royal Conservatory, and for Chamber Music at the Escuela Superior de Musica de Catalunya (Barcelona).
Georges-Elie Octors has conducted a lot of world creations such as, Aperghis, Boesmans, De Mey, Francesconi, Harvey, Hosokawa, Jarrell, Levinas, Pousseur, Romitelli, Saariaho, Wood, etc...
He has been invited by the most important international festivals of contemporary music and had the musical responsibility for many recordings.
Since 1996 he is the music director of Ictus Ensemble (Brussels)

Georges-Elie Octors (°1947) studeerde aan de Koninklijke Academie van Brussel. Hij was solist in het Nationaal Orkest van België en lid van Ensemble Musique Nouvelle (Luik) vanaf 1970, ensemble waarover hij de muzikale leiding had van 1976 tot 1991. Hij dirigeerde tevens tal van symfonische bezettingen, kamerorkesten en ensembles hedendaagse muziek in België en in het buitenland. Dankzij zijn ervaring in het dirigeren van opera's, werd hij recent uitgenodigd door de Academia Scala de Milano.
Hij heeft een muziekcursus uitgewerkt aangepast aan de jonge dansers voor de Performing Arts and Training Studios (PARTS/ROSAS), doceerde aan het Conservatorium van Brussel en geeft vandaag les 'Formation aux Langages Contemporains' aan het Conservatorium van Luik alsook Kamermuziek aan de Escuela Superior de Musica de Catalunya (Barcelona).
Georges-Elie Octors had de leiding over tal van wereldcreaties van ondermeer Saariaho, Aperghis, Harvey, Jarrell, Romitelli, Francesconi, Wood, Pousseur, Boesmans, Hosokawa et De Mey.
Regelmatig wordt hij uitgenodigd door de grote internationale festivals voor hedendaagse muziek en tekende de muzikale leiding voor een groot aantal cd-opnames.
Sinds 1996 heeft hij de muzikale leiding over het Ictus Ensemble.

Né en 1947, Georges-Elie Octors a étudié la percussion au Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles. Il a été soliste à l'Orchestre National de Belgique de 1969 à 1981 et membre de l'Ensemble Musique Nouvelle (Liège) dès 1970, dont il fut ensuite le directeur musical de 1976 à 1991. Il a également dirigé de nombreuses formations symphoniques, orchestres de chambre et ensembles de musique contemporaine en Belgique et à l'étranger. Après avoir dirigé plusieurs opéras contemporains, notamment au Festival d'Art Lyrique d'Aix-en-Provence, Georges-Elie Octors a été l'invité de l'Academia La Scala de Milano.
Il a créé un cours de musique adapté aux jeunes danseurs du Performing Arts and Training Studios (PARTS/ROSAS), enseigné la percussion, au Conservatoire de Bruxelles, donné le cours de « Formation aux Langages Contemporains » au Conservatoire Royal de Liège, ainsi qu'un cours de Musique de Chambre à l'Escuela Superior de Musica de Catalunya (Barcelona).
Georges-Elie Octors a dirigé de nombreuses créations mondiales, parmi lesquelles des oeuvres de Saariaho, Aperghis, Harvey, Romitelli, Francesconi, Levinas, Wood, Pousseur, Boesmans, Hosokawa, De Mey, etc.
Il est l'invité régulier des grands festivals contemporains et a signé de nombreux enregistrements discographiques.
Il a été le directeur musical de l'ensemble Ictus (Bruxelles) de 1994 à 2021.
Il collabore très régulièrement avec Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker (Rosas), pour l’analyse et la direction musicale de ses créations chorégraphiques.
